In the dead time between the last preliminary final and the Big Dance, two Cats-supporting brothers and one of the brothers' (recently defeated) Hawks-supporting wife decided to run our own football competition. And because we don't personally know two hundred footballers, we had no choice - we had to model it.
The result was LeagueEngine and this is it.
Eight imaginary teams. 144 imaginary players. Thousands of lines of very non-imaginary code. And millions of closely simulated, complicated, agent-driven football games, exploring every roll of the dice, from dropped marks to missed kicks - and revealing the hand of chance in the world's greatest game.
We took our cumulative decades of serious modelling expertise in planetary physics, epidemiology, urban policy, behavioural architecture, and energy systems, and dedicated it to trapping almost two hundred gormless robots in a gruelling multiverse of unending finals football. AND WE WOULD DO IT ALL AGAIN.
We are Rogue Science.
